I sat under the shade of this maple tree, waiting for something interesting to happen but nothing ever does. From where I sat I could hear the others having fun as if it was a game and I had to wait for my turn, for my name to be called.
I waited and waited but nothing. Will it be like this every day? The breeze today was so gentle, so warm that I couldn't help but sing. I sang my thanks for such beautiful weather today.
*rustle* "Huh?! Did someone hear me?" -embarrassed-
-yawn- "I know I heard someone here, hm...maybe I'm just hearing things..." XD
(Uh-oh! I better run before he starts looking around.)
-jumps off the tree and gets ready to run-
-grabs- "I knew I heard someone!"
-bows and apologizes- "I'm sorry for disturbing you, I'm really sorry." -looks up and mad dash away-
"..." -stares- "Sheesh, she sure runs fast."
The next day I went back to the tree, no one was there. I guess it was just a dream.
-sigh of relief- "Don't worry maple tree, I'll visit you every day. You know the first time I saw you, I was amazed by your color. Your leaves are red unlike any other trees around here. I wonder if trees feel lonely too but even so, the more I look at you, the more I have come to love maple trees. My gift to you will always be this song. -sings-
*claps*
"Huh?!" -looks down- "Ah! You're that boy from yesterday."
"I have a name you know, it's Jerry. Do you always sing for this tree?"
"I've grown to love this tree, we are alike..."
"You mean your hair color and the leaves?"
"No!!" -annoyed- We're just both waiting, that's all." F3
-picks up some leaves and twists them into the shape of a flower- "You have nothing better to do?"
"None of your business." -walks away-
Day after day I continued to sing as he stood under the tree with a flower, made from the maple leaves that had dropped from the tree, ready for me. Nothing changed except the fact that we got closer and closer. I didn't walk away from him anymore when he asked me things but I began wondering how long this would last. No one would be willing to stay here forever, just waiting.

(What if he leaves? What will I do?)
I got my answer the next day. That day, he didn't come. I wondered if he got bored, tired of all of this, and decided to leave.
(Doesn't matter...I guess.)
But a part of me felt sad. As I jumped off the tree, I heard someone running. I turned around to see that it was Jerry. He was out of breath from running.
"Did something happen?"
"Aww, I missed it." F7
"Huh?" F6
"I didn't get to hear you sing." -takes deep breaths and wipes sweat off chin-
"Hmph, I thought it was bothersome." F3 -looks away-
"Please sing it, just once more today." -pleads her-
"Hmm...fine." -turns away with a slightly embarrassed face and sings-

I couldn't help but be drawn in by his words, they made me feel really happy. It was as if it was finally my turn to shine, someone finally called my name, Amber. When I thought that he had stopped coming, it hurt so much. These past few days, it wasn't that nothing had happened but rather I had found someone who wanted me here. Each and every day was a treasure, a memory I couldn't bear losing nor pretending that nothing had happened.
-places necklace around her neck-
"Huh?" -looks at necklace- (It was a maple leaf.) "What's this for?"
"Do you know what today is?"
"Huh?"
"It's March 14, White Day, it's my gift in return for the gift you sent me. You're probably thinking you didn't give me anything but on the 14th of February, when I heard singing I came to this tree. Your song was the gift I received from you. I used to walk by this tree everyday and I saw you waiting for something to happen. I thought maybe there was a chance that I could be that something."
Not the something but the someone that called for me, I've found him. I couldn't help but want to hug him, not wanting him to see my crying face, the loneliness lifted. That day, the sun was shining brightly as the maple tree's leaves grew more red in color.
